Hey y'all!
So, I got back home to Chicago (or Glenview, IL, a north suburb of Chicago, to be more exact) last Thursday. Although my town is usually plagued by a lack of entertaining things to do, I've surprisingly kept pretty busy this past week.
I got into Chicago early on Thursday morning (holla to my girls who went out with me on my last night and got me hammered, enough to keep me tipsy until I actually boarded my plane.. whoops;D) and basically ran around Glenview like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get all of my study visa travel documents in order. Unfortunately for me, I apparently live near a city which has the most difficult (AKA biggest pain in the butt) Italian consulate. For those of you who aren't familiar with visas, some countries don't require students who are studying abroad to get a study visa, but Italy does. AND the Italian consulate in Chicago happens to require a list of about 15 documents (most of which need to be notarized) and photocopies of each to get a visa. One of these documents they require is a document that, because of my study abroad program and UT, doesn't exist. Soo I got to play phone tag with about 5 different people to create a mimic document that will hopefully be sufficient for the Italian consulate. Nonetheless, all of my documents are now in and I will be waiting impatiently to receive my visa in the mail. In other, less annoying news...
On Thursday and Friday I also was saying goodbye to my best friend from home who is doing an insane program in South Africa for 3 weeks. She basically travels around South Africa and sees different wild African animals, treats dogs and cats for some typical diseases, and gets to experience African culture. In case you can't tell, she's pre-veterinarian. I'm incredibly jealous of her trip. Bec, in case you read this, I'm missing you like crazy! I feel really cool that I have 2 friends that are going to Africa. Def going to live vicariously through them.
The rest of the week consisted of going to the beach a few times with friends and working on my tan in the "perfect" 85-90 degree Chicago weather. I say "perfect" because as a partial Texan now, I would consider that perfect weather. But, reppin' my Chicago roots, all Chicagoans consider this almost unbearable. *Sigh* ohh the tribulations of being caught between two worlds..
I also went with some friends to a Cubs game today which was AMAZING. I'll keep this short but sweet:
1) Perfect 80 degree weather with sunshine
2) 1:20 day game
3) 6th row on the first base line
4) Hot baseball players with nice butts
5) Not getting carded at lunch (fist pump)
6) My Cubbies WIN!! (pretty shocking considering their record..)
7) Some old guys gave us their peanuts (mm free food)
8) My fake officially works with the vendors at Wrigley Field
Can you say perfect day?!
Hmm what else.. caught up on 24, cried during the series finale. Went to SATC 2 midnight showing, saw my entire high school class there (ew). Bummed around on my couch watching river monsters, taunting my little brother because he's still in school.
As much as I love being a college kid home for the summer just bumming around, I can't wait to get to Florence. My anxiousness has been building since I got home and I just can't wait to get there!
Love and miss you all SO much!!
XOXO
